SINULOG, SIRAWAI, ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE Después de la navidad en la mayoría de ciudades, pueblos, aldeas de Filipinas se celebra la festividad del Santo Niño, llamada Sinulog. Aquí en Sirawai, pequeña aldea de pescadores, situada en la provincia de Zamboanga del Norte toda la población celebra de forma devota y colorista esta festividad e incluso la población musulmana participa en ella con gran respeto y admiración.
EL NAZARENO NEGRO, BASÍLICA DE QUIAPO. En la basílica de Quiapo, en Manila se venera a Jesús Nazareno también llamado el Cristo Negro. Es una imagen de madera de tamaño natural que goza de una gran devoción entre los filipinos. Considerada una imagen milagrosa entre los devotos. La talla fue realizada en México en 1606 y llego a Filipinas a bordo de un galeón desde Acapulco. Hoy, día 9 de enero se celebra una de las mas importantes procesiones a su culto, donde acuden millares de filipinos a venerarla. También se hacen dos procesiones a su culto el día de año nuevo y el viernes Santo. Todos los días del año la basílica de Quiapo recibe a infinidad de filipinos que se acercan a la talla para tocarla, su manto y su mano, y pedir su bendición.
CAMIÑA BALAY NGA BATO. En la ciudad de Iloilo, en el distrito de Arevalo, se encuentra una de las casas mas famosas por su arquitectura de estilo colonial hispano - filipino. Construida en 1860 por Fernando Avanceña ( tío del presidente del tribunal del supremo Ramón Avanceña ) consta de dos plantas y decorada con un rico patrimonio colonial. Reformada hace unos años, se ha transformado en museo - tienda de antigüedades y donde se haya una de las colecciones privadas mas importantes de Filipinas de Gerard de Camiñas. En su visita se puede degustar un chocolate a la taza, típico de la casa y acompañados de unas deliciosas y sabrosas pasta.

CONECTADOS - A select pool of
Filipino, Spanish and Mexican photographers featuring images of theirs on each
one’s take on the “human activities” that are/were influenced by the
“connection” of the 3 nations through the galleon trade route. The images would
either define similarities and/or contrasts of the results of the 3 countries’
connections.
The show will actually be featured in and out of the museum.
One set of images from all of the select photographers will be laid out,
printed, and mounted for the museum’s Inner Lobby Gallery exhibition. A similar
set of images will be included in a video loop that will be played outside the
museum, using the black granite façade of the museum building, plus in 4 other
building facades here in Makati. Screening for the video begins on November 8
until the 12th from 6pm till 11pm each night. It’s a 5-venue, 5-night, 5-hour
per night simultaneous screening schedule for this set of exhibition. To
guarantee the best projection for these outdoor exhibitions, 20,000 lumen-strong
LCD projectors for the 5 venues will be used creating an impact as Conectados
bring the exhibits outside the museum premises. The exhibit inside the museum,
however will be until the 25th of November.
As added attraction to
CONECTADOS is a progressive Spanish artist known as Suso. He will paint the
museum exterior using laser lights when the exhibit opens on the 8th of
November.
